Pro tip: test the keypad before you trust it, learned that one the hard way on a Tuesday
Had a panel swap go sideways on me two weeks ago in a little strip mall off Route 9. The old keypad was working fine when I pulled power, but after I hooked up the new board it just sat there dead with no backlight, and I mean completely dead, not even a beep. Turned out the bus wire had a nick in it hidden behind the drywall from when the building got rewired, and the new panel was just less forgiving than the old one was. Took me three trips back to that site to find it, and now I always do a continuity check on the keypad run before I even mount the can. Anyone else notice newer panels seem way pickier about voltage drop than the stuff we put in 15 years ago?
