That customer who wanted me to hide the keypad in a drawer
Had a guy in Arlington last month insist I mount the alarm keypad inside his kitchen drawer so nobody would see it. Tried to explain how that defeats the whole point of arming it quick in an emergency, but he just kept saying 'it ruins the counter look.' You ever get a request that makes you wonder why they even bother with a system?

Told a guy once his phone signal's useless inside a steel drawer, he moved it next day.

People get so caught up in aesthetics they forget the whole point of having something. I see this everywhere now, not just with alarms. Someone spends ten grand on a kitchen renovation and suddenly a tiny keypad is an eyesore but a drawer full of junk is fine. It's like people think security is just for show, like a decorative vase you never put flowers in. Makes me wonder if they'd buy a fire extinguisher and hide it in a closet because it clashes with the wall color.

Oh wait, did you say ten grand on a kitchen? Like ten thousand dollars just for the renovation? That's wild to me lol. I can't imagine spending that kind of money and then getting picky about a little keypad. @kevin_sullivan you're spot on though, people lose their minds over the dumbest stuff. I've seen folks put up a nice looking alarm panel and then have a pile of mail and bills all over the counter like that's somehow better. It's like they want the house to look perfect for photos but don't care if it actually works. I swear the next thing someone will do is put a smoke detector behind a painting because it's "ugly.
