Update: panel started chirping at 2am and the keypad gave me a trouble code I'd never seen
Had a customer call me at 2am last Tuesday because their 15 year old panel would not stop beeping. I get there and the keypad is flashing a zone trouble I have not run into before, zone 7 kept showing open even with every window and door shut. Spent 40 minutes with my meter checking the loop resistance and it kept reading around 3.2k when it should have been close to 2.2k. Turns out a mouse had chewed through the wire in the attic by the AC unit and the insulation was damp, which threw the reading off. I swapped the run for a new 22/4 and it cleared right up, total job came to $185 with the after hours call. Any of you see weird resistance readings like that from chewed wire, or was this just a fluke?
