I used to twist and cap everything out of habit, and honestly it worked fine for most of my career. Then I picked up a job redoing 60 panels in a Reno apartment complex in 2023 and the GC's spec sheet called for lever nuts on all splices in the cans. At first I thought it was overkill and slow, but by panel 20 I was finishing each one about 15 minutes faster because I wasn't fighting stiff solid core in cold weather. I also stopped getting callbacks for loose neutrals, which used to happen maybe once every 40 or 50 jobs. One thing I still wonder about is whether they hold up as well as a good twist over 15 or 20 years in a hot attic. Any of you guys made the switch on service work, or do you still twist and tape everything?
