Veteran installer told me to stop using screws on door contacts, and I still disagree
Was wiring a panel in Mesa with a guy who has 22 years in the trade. He watched me screw in a recessed contact and said, you are asking for a callback, use the press fit every time. I asked what happens on a steel frame door and he just shrugged. Two callbacks later on his method, I switched back to screws with anchors. What is your go to on steel door contacts?
Read somewhere that press fits can work loose on hollow metal frames because the wall thickness varies so much. Screws with anchors just hold better when the frame isn't solid behind it. Your old timer probably never dealt with the crusty steel doors you get out there.
