Why does nobody talk about how much simpler alarm jobs were with just wires?

Back in the day, we put in systems that were all hardwired and they just worked. Now, I see guys acting like wireless is the only way to go, but I've fixed so many messed up signals and dead batteries. My old clients never called me about a sensor going offline in the middle of the night. I think we gave up a good thing for flashy tech that lets people down.

My friend's dad had one of those old wired systems for twenty years, never a hiccup. They "upgraded" him to wireless and now he gets false alarms every few months. Makes you wonder if new always means better, right?

Yeah, false alarms every few months are a sure sign of a bad wireless setup. I always tell people to make sure the motion sensors are placed away from heat sources or windows. It's frustrating when an upgrade causes more problems than it solves!

Honestly, the battery issue gets me. Like @stone.thomas said about placement, but even a good spot fails when the cheap wireless sensor battery gets low. It doesn't just die, it sends weird signals that trip the alarm. So you're changing batteries constantly instead of just having reliable wires.
