Hacksaw blade shattered mid-cut on a cast iron pipe in the crawlspace
I was under a house near Old Town cutting a 4-inch cast iron stack when the blade snapped and hit me in the arm, so I switched to a reciprocating saw with a diamond grit blade and finished the job in 10 minutes without any more drama.

Diamond grit blade on a recip saw through cast iron? That had to be screaming loud.

Tried it on an old 1920s floor drain once and yeah, it was brutal... sounded like a broken angle grinder for a solid 20 minutes. Wound up clamping a shop vac hose right next to the cut to keep the dust down and save my ears. Still worked better than a sawzall with a standard blade though, that thing just kept snapping teeth.
