Hit $15k on my kitchen reno and still no cabinets
I was budgeting $10k for a full kitchen remodel in my 1950s Albuquerque house, but after demo and new plumbing I'm already at $15k with nothing to store my plates in. The drywall had old knob-and-tube wiring that had to be replaced and that ate up $2k alone. Has anyone else run way over budget on a simple kitchen reno in this town?

Did you factor in the electrical work before you started or did that kinda blindside you like it did for me? The old wiring in these ABQ houses is always a hidden time bomb and it hurts the budget every single time. I'd say hit up ReStore for cabinets and live with temporary shelving for a bit until you recover from the shock lol.
