I finally tried using a heat gun on my old Albuquerque stucco to find a leak.
Had a damp spot on my living room wall near San Mateo. My buddy joked I should just warm the area to see where the water came from. Used my cheap Wagner heat gun on low, and the moisture actually wicked out in a straight line right to a single cracked seam. Anyone know a good person to patch a small section of historic stucco?

Wow, that's a clever trick with the heat gun! I read that old stucco needs a special mix to patch it right. You should ask for someone who knows historic homes around UNM.

The Albuquerque Historic Preservation Society keeps a list of approved contractors. I saw a post last year about a guy named Carlos who did a great job on a Nob Hill bungalow. Getting the old lime-based mix right is key for a patch that lasts.
