My swamp cooler decided to quit on the hottest day of July

Last Tuesday it hit 102 here in the Heights and my swamp cooler just stopped spinning. Turned out the bearing on the motor was shot. I had to run to Ferguson's on Menaul and grab a new one for $85. Got it swapped in an hour but the house hit 90 before it cooled back down. Has anyone else had a motor bearing go out mid-summer?

$85 bucks and an hour of sweating just to learn bearings hate July as much as we do.

Ran to Ferguson's on Menaul" - that's exactly the same spot I hit when my swamp cooler motor seized up two summers back. I keep a spare bearing and a belt in the garage now, just a little insurance for when the heat hits like that. Cost me way less sweat the second time around.
