My swamp cooler pad frame gave out during the last heat wave
It happened about two weeks ago when we hit 98 degrees. I went to turn on the cooler and heard a loud crack, then water started dripping down the side of the house. The whole plastic frame holding the aspen pads had snapped right in the middle. I shut off the water and power, then ran to Lowe's on Coors for a new one. Has anyone else had this happen and found a more sturdy brand than the basic blue ones they sell?

Honestly I used to just grab whatever pads were cheapest at Home Depot. But after having two of those plastic frames crack on me in three years, I switched to the heavy duty metal ones. They cost like twenty bucks more but man, they don't warp in the heat. My neighbor's had his for five seasons now with no issues.

Always went cheap too, but you've convinced me.
