PSA: tallying my receipts after the kitchen redo, and the dump fees alone hit $780

Honestly I kept every single receipt from our kitchen tear out in a shoebox, mostly because my wife said I'd forget what we spent on the parts nobody sees. Finally sat down last weekend and added it up. The cabinets and counters were what I expected, but the landfill charges for hauling off the old tile and drywall came to $780, way more than I guessed. That's $780 just to throw stuff away, on top of the dumpster rental, and I never budgeted a dime for it. Anyone else get blindsided by the haul away side of a reno here in town, or did you find a cheaper way to get rid of old cabinets and tile?
