Saw a report on Albuquerque's old adobe homes needing more upkeep than I figured

I was reading a city housing report from 2023 and it said over 60% of pre-1950 adobe homes in the North Valley need major plaster repair within five years. I always thought they were lower maintenance. It made me check my own place's foundation for cracks. Has anyone here had to deal with a big adobe replastering job recently?

My neighbor on Los Ranchos Road spent $15k on earth plaster last year. Turns out the wrong kind of paint can trap moisture and make everything worse.

Oh man, that's a real wake-up call. I had the same idea about them being easier to keep up, so that report is pretty surprising. It makes you look at your own walls differently, doesn't it? My cousin just went through a whole replaster mess last fall and the dust alone was a nightmare.
