The drywall guy who laughed at my level and then showed me his dented 4-footer
After 6 months of fighting crooked walls with a 2-foot level, this old timer told me to switch to a 6-foot one and handed me his beat-up one he'd been using since the 80s, and now I'm wondering if tools are really supposed to last that long or if I just got lucky.

That old timer probably used it to knock some sense into younger guys too.

Always kinda sad to see stuff like that retired to a wall. You can just picture all the conversations that thing has been part of, probably more than a few heated ones. Maybe it's just me but there's something real about a tool that's been passed down like that, it holds a lot of memories. Hope whoever ended up with it takes good care of it, you know? That thing earned its spot on the wall.
