The tile guy at the Riudoso job said something about grout lines that stuck with me
I was helping demo a bathroom up in Ruidoso last month and the tile guy mentioned he always leaves 1/8 inch grout lines on older homes because the floors are never perfectly flat. He said wider lines hide the shifts so the tile doesn't crack. I had been planning tight 1/16 inch lines in my own hallway redo, and that one comment saved me from a headache. Got the hallway done last weekend and the wider lines actually look better with the old hardwood too. Has anyone else changed their grout plan after hearing a pro's reason for doing it their way?
