Tried spray foam in my attic after years of fiberglass... wow

I've always used fiberglass batts because that's what my dad taught me. But after my AC kept running nonstop last July in our house near Nob Hill, a neighbor suggested spray foam. I paid $1,200 to get a crew to do the attic and the difference in our upstairs temps is like 10 degrees cooler now. Has anyone else switched and seen their electric bill drop a ton?

Spray foam is a whole different beast. Doesn't matter how good your fiberglass is if air is still leaking around it. Sounds like your $1,200 paid itself off pretty quick.

Right? "Whole different beast" is putting it mildly. I swear, you could wrap your house in ten inches of the fanciest fiberglass and it's still gonna leak air like a screen door on a submarine. My buddy did the spray foam in his attic last summer, and his electric bill dropped so fast the power company probably thought he moved out. That $1,200 sounds like a steal compared to chasing drafts with caulk every winter.
