Vent: My dad's old neighbor in the North Valley said something about adobe that stuck with me
I was telling him about my plan to put up drywall over the old adobe walls in my sunroom to make it look cleaner. He just shook his head and said, 'That mud's been holding the heat in and keeping the cool since before your granddad was born.' It made me stop and think about all the work that original builder put in, and how quick I was to cover it up. Has anyone else decided to keep and fix their original adobe instead of replacing it?

That's a really cool way to think about it. Makes you respect the old ways.

My buddy restored his grandpa's 1972 truck with all original parts. The thing runs smoother than his new car and he says it taught him patience. Sometimes the old way is just built different.
