Why does nobody talk about how bad the cheap 'desert tan' stucco patch is for our climate?
I mean, I tried patching a crack on my west-facing wall with a $15 bag of it last spring, and after just one summer, the whole patch is a different, weirdly shiny color and has a new hairline crack around the edges, so has anyone found a better product that actually holds up here?

My neighbor used that stuff to fix his mailbox post and it basically turned into a chalky paste after one good rain.

Had a totally different experience with that stuff, honestly. My dad used it to patch a crack in his concrete walkway like five years ago and it's still holding strong, no chalkiness at all. Maybe it comes down to the mix or the surface prep, @wades76. His looked a little rough at first but he really worked it into a wet slurry.

Ugh, don't even get me started. I had the same exact thing happen on my patio step. It looked okay for maybe two months, then it turned this weird pinkish color and flaked off in sheets. Isn't it just the worst when you try to fix something and it ends up looking even worse? Feels like you just threw that money straight in the trash.
