A stranger at the bus stop made me dig out my old Palm Pilot

Last Thursday I was waiting for the 72 bus and this teenager spotted my phone case, which is actually a repurposed iPod sock. He asked what it was, and I ended up explaining how my Palm Tungsten E2 still holds my grocery list and a few games from 2004. He looked at me like I was showing him a fossil, then said his laptop can do all that but he forgets it exists half the time. That hit different because he wasn't mocking me, he just genuinely couldn't see the point of owning one dedicated thing. I came home and charged the Palm up, and honestly, using it felt lighter than pulling out my phone for the same tasks. Now I'm wondering, has anyone else found that an old single-purpose gadget still does a job better than the all-in-one in their pocket?
