Finally got my old Palm Pilot syncing after 3 years of trying

I found my old Palm Pilot m515 in a drawer last month and spent 3 weekends fighting with USB drivers and vintage software to get it to sync with my modern PC. After trying like 5 different sync cables and reading a forum from 2004, I finally got my contacts and calendar transferred last night. Has anyone else managed to get old PDAs working again, or am I just wasting my time on this?

Took you that long to get an m515 syncing? I did the same thing with my old Handspring Visor last year and gave up after two days. What software did you end up using to make it work, the Palm Desktop or something else? I'm curious if you had to mess with compatibility mode in Windows like I kept reading about.

Ha @hannahs71, tell me about it - I finally caved and used Palm Desktop with compatibility mode set to Windows XP SP3. Did you ever try the USB-to-serial dongle hack or just stick with the cradle?
