Just realized my ancient flip phone still beats my smartphone for job site calls

Bought a refurbished LG enV3 for 35 bucks off eBay last month. The battery lasts six days on a charge and it takes a beating in my truck. Signal holds up way better in metal buildings than my iPhone ever did. Only use it for calls and texts now, no apps to drain or distract. Burned 80 bucks on a rugged smartphone case before that, total waste. Anybody else running a dumb phone as a backup for work?

That battery lasting six days thing reminds me of my buddy Mike who forgot his charger on a two week job and his old phone never even hit half.

My buddy Dave was on a camping trip in the Rockies last fall, and his phone showed 40% after a whole week of zero charging. He only used it for a few photos and an occasional text, so I guess the trick is just not touching the thing. Meanwhile my phone dies by noon if I look at it sideways.
