My 1992 Palm Pilot still syncs and the trick is a serial port setting nobody talks about
Everyone says old Palm devices are dead because the cradle won't talk to a modern PC. I dug out my dad's Palm III from a box in Fresno and got it syncing in 20 minutes on a Windows 11 machine. The fix was dropping the serial baud rate to 9600 in the Palm Desktop config instead of letting it auto-detect. Auto-detect kept failing and giving me a timeout error, but hardcoding 9600 worked on the first try. Has anyone else fought with legacy serial handshakes like this, and did a lower baud rate save you too?
