Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say his Palm Pilot still boots up after 15 years

I was waiting for my latte last Saturday and this older guy pulls out a Palm Pilot V from his bag. He was telling his friend he uses it to keep track of his blood pressure readings because the new phone apps confuse him. It got me thinking about all the old PDAs and flip phones sitting in drawers that probably still work fine. I got home and dug out my old iPod Classic from 2007 and it fired right up with a full charge. Has anyone else dug out an old gadget recently just to see if it still runs?

That old Palm Pilot thing got me thinking about something nobody brings up. Those old gadgets weren't constantly updating their software and nagging you for internet access. My dad still uses a flip phone from 2008 and the battery lasts like a week because the thing doesn't have any background apps draining it. We traded reliability for constant features and I'm not sure it was always the right trade.
