Spent 2 years gripping my scaler wrong at work
I was at the dentist office cleaning Mrs. Patterson's molars last Tuesday and my hand started cramping up real bad. My coworker Diane looked over and goes "why are you holding that thing like a fork?" Turns out I had been gripping my ultrasonic scaler with my thumb pressed against the handle instead of pinching it between my fingers. It felt totally wrong for like a week but now my hand doesnt hurt anymore after a 8 hour shift. Has anyone else dealt with realizing their grip or stance on some old tool was totally backwards the whole time?

Wait, you spent TWO YEARS holding it wrong and you actually gave yourself a cramp bad enough that it was happening during a cleaning? That's crazy to me. I mean, I've been on the job for 5 years and I thought I was holding mine pretty standard, but maybe I should double check now because that sounds like a nightmare. Your coworker Diane probably saved you from some serious wrist trouble down the road, honestly. That's wild that your hand just accepted the wrong grip for so long without screaming at you sooner.
