The pawn shop clerk who changed how I see CRT monitors

I stopped by a shop in Tulsa last month to offload a 2003 Sony Trinitron that still works perfect. The clerk said nobody wants them but he kept one in the back because the colors remind him of his dad's old office. He let me A/B it against a modern LCD and I finally got why people chase that phosphor glow. Has anyone else had a random stranger shift your opinion on old display tech?
