Why does nobody talk about using a 1990s calculator for quick math checks?

I got called out by my old physics prof for trusting my phone's app too much, so I dug out his Casio from 1994 and honestly it's faster for adding up my kids' school supply costs. No autocorrect, no ads, just buttons that click. Has anyone else kept a dumb calculator around just for the simplicity?
