A customer in Raleigh told me my invoice looked like a ransom note

They said the handwriting was messy and the parts list was unclear, so I switched to a digital invoice app last month. Anyone have a good template for making service calls easier to read?

Honestly that customer sounds a bit picky. A handwritten invoice has character and shows you took the time to do it yourself. Switching to some generic digital form makes your service feel less personal, like you are just another big company. The messy handwriting is proof a real person was there working, not a robot. Clarity is overrated sometimes, the personal touch is what people remember.

But what if the handwriting is so bad they can't read the total or contact info? The personal touch doesn't help if they can't figure out what they owe you.
