A customer in Tulsa told me my 20 year old Fluke 16 was basically a museum piece, and I have not stopped thinking about it
He said it while I was checking a dryer outlet at his house last Tuesday, and now I keep wondering if I am actually diagnosing anything or just doing a ritual with old tools, so what meter is actually worth buying in 2024?
Kept using the Fluke for 20 years because it worked, not because it was fancy. Half of what we do is muscle memory anyway, the tool just needs to not lie to you. So the real question is whether a new meter would tell you anything the old one is missing.
