A week of nothing but ice maker calls and a single, bizarre request

Every single service call from Monday to Friday was for a broken ice maker, which is odd enough. The weird part was on Wednesday, when a customer in a high-rise condo asked if I could fix their unit to make 'whiskey stones' instead of ice cubes. They were completely serious, offering an extra $50 on top of the standard fee. I had to explain the physics of a freezer to them for a good ten minutes. Has a strange customer request ever made you stop and just blink for a second?

Man, that whiskey stones thing is a new one. I once had a guy ask me to wire his new oven so it would only heat to exactly 350 degrees, because he was convinced every recipe was a lie and all ovens ran hot. He wanted me to override the thermostat completely. Another time, someone asked if their fridge's water filter could be set up to add lemon flavor. You just have to stand there for a minute trying to figure out where to even start.

My buddy had a client who wanted a silent doorbell. Like, a light that flashes instead. For his "very important naps." Had to explain how doorbells work. People are something else.
