I used to pull every fridge door and drawer off before even touching the back panel, because that's how the old timer in Tulsa taught me back in 2010 and I never questioned it. Last month I did a compressor swap on a side by side in a tiny galley kitchen and just slid the unit out 8 inches, tipped it back on a moving blanket, and had the whole thing done in 90 minutes without scratching a single floor. The customer tipped me $40 because she said every other guy told her the doors had to come off and quoted her double. I get that some jobs need the space, but we've been making sealed system work way harder than it has to be. Anybody else stopped pulling doors, or am I going to regret this the first time I hit a tight cabinet?
