Dropped $180 on a refrigerant scale and it paid for itself in one week
I do mostly fridge and AC work around Sacramento, and for a long time I just weighed charges with a bathroom scale and guessed. Bad idea, I know. Two months back I bought a real digital refrigerant scale for $180 after a guy at the supply house on Folsom Blvd told me I was nuts for doing it the old way. First job after that was a walk-in cooler at a taqueria that had been overcharged by the last guy. I pulled the exact charge, weighed it back in, and the thing held 38 degrees all summer. Owner was so happy he sent me two more restaurants. That scale has already covered its cost like five times over. No more guessing, no more callbacks. What tools have you all bought that ended up being worth way more than you paid?
