Found out the hard way about LG compressor warranties

I dug into the service bulletin after a 2021 model LG fridge died on me last month. Turns out the sealed system warranty is 5 years on the compressor, but parts like the condenser fan motor are only covered for 1 year. I called LG's parts line in Louisville and confirmed it, cost me $187 for the motor out of pocket. Has anyone else gotten burned by the fine print on these newer models?

That extended compressor warranty only matters if the labor is covered too, and half the time it isn't on these sealed system jobs. Labor runs way more than the part itself, so you're looking at a $400+ repair bill even when the compressor is still under warranty. Worth checking if the warranty includes labor before you buy any LG, because that's where the real money disappears.
