Guy at the parts counter in Saco said 'check the outlet before you touch the machine' and it's saved me twice since
I laughed it off at the time because I was there for a $22 drain pump, but he said he'd seen three techs fry boards on the same 240v dryer hookup that month. Two jobs later I found a melted neutral in a wall box the homeowner swore was fine, and I got to walk away clean instead of eating a control board. Curious if you all meter the receptacle first or just trust the breaker.
