Hot take: vacuum hoses from the 90s outlast the new ones every time
Had a customer's Kenmore from 1994 come in last Tuesday with the original hose still soft and flexible, while the replacement I ordered for a 2021 model cracked at the cuff in two months. Feels like the rubber compound changed somewhere around 2010 and nobody told the factories. Any of you still sourcing old stock hoses or have you given up and gone to aftermarket?
Man that sucks about the cracked cuff, two months is brutal for a part that should last years. I've been grabbing old stock hoses off eBay and estate sales when I can find them, because the new rubber just feels different in your hand. Sticking with the old stuff is worth the hunt if you can swing it.
