Noticed something at a laundromat on 8th Ave that changed how I check dryers
Stopped into a laundromat on 8th Ave last Tuesday and two out of five dryers had coin slots jammed with bent quarters, so I pulled the vent hose and found a sock crusted over the lint screen, has anyone else ever seen a foreign object cause a moisture sensor to fail like that?

Whoa, I gotta push back on that one. I've fixed a few dryers in my day and honestly, a crusty sock on the lint screen is gross but it rarely messes with the moisture sensor itself. Usually that just blocks airflow and makes everything take forever to dry, not give you a false reading. What actually kills those sensors is fabric softener sheets leaving a waxy film, that's the real culprit in my experience. Bent quarters in the slot just mean someone was mad they didn't have change, not that the machine's tech is broken lol.
