That old Maytag repairman in Des Moines was right about the belts

The exact same thing happened to me with my washing machine back in 2015. I felt like a genius when I fixed the first belt, then the second one went and I was sure it was just junk parts. Third time I spent a whole Saturday wrestling with it before I realized I had the belt routed around the wrong pulley. My wife just stood there watching me, not saying a word, and honestly that was worse than if she had laughed.

My dryer belt snapped three times in one year back in 2013. The first two times I replaced it myself and felt pretty clever about it. The third time I accidentally put the belt on backwards and the whole thing started making a noise like a dying goose. Had to call a guy named Steve who charged me 80 bucks to turn it the right way around. I think Steve knew exactly what happened but he was nice enough not to say anything.
