Unpopular opinion: I think those universal washer hoses are a bad idea
I was at a job in Tempe last month where a homeowner had installed a 'universal' stainless steel washer hose kit himself. The thing blew off the valve after six months because the cheap clamp couldn't handle the pressure. Water went EVERYWHERE in the laundry room, ruined the drywall and flooring. Now I always carry my own supply of OEM-style hoses with the proper ends and tell customers to avoid those one-size-fits-all kits. Has anyone else had a call like this where a 'universal' part caused a major mess?

Okay but come on, how many of those hoses actually fail? For every one that bursts there's probably a thousand that work fine for years. Sounds like that guy just got a bad clamp or didn't tighten it right. Most people install them without any issue.

Ever try to use a universal hose clamp and end up with your own indoor pool? (Asking for a friend, and maybe @bencampbell's lucky thousand.)
