Used to overhaul every motor I touched. Now I test first.
For years I'd tear down a seized washing machine motor and replace bearings and brushes without even checking the windings. Wasted about 6 hours on a Whirlpool direct drive last spring before I finally grabbed my multimeter. Found an open winding in 30 seconds. Now I spend 5 minutes testing before I pull a single screw. Anyone else still do full rebuilds out of habit?

Wait, you spent 6 hours on a Whirlpool before checking the windings? Oh my god. That's brutal, I would have lost my mind after hour two.
