Washing machine drain pump got me thinking about lint traps
I swapped out a drain pump on a Samsung yesterday in Tacoma and the impeller was wrapped in what looked like a small animal made of dryer sheets and hair. The owner said they clean the lint trap every load, but they never thought about the machine's own filter. That little plastic screen takes 30 seconds to rinse, and skipping it killed that pump after 3 years instead of 8. How often do you guys actually check those on your own machines during a call?

Used to be the last thing on my list, honestly. I figured if the owner was cleaning the lint trap out every load, that was the battle. Then I pulled one off a Frigidaire that was packed so tight it looked like felt. That changed things for me. Now I check the machine filter on every tune-up, even if they just called about a noise. Takes longer to explain where it is than to clean it out. Your pump story is exactly what I tell people now, 30 seconds beats a 200 dollar part every time.
