Why does nobody talk about the jump in call volume after a major holiday weekend?

We went from 3-4 calls a day to 15 on Tuesday after the 4th, all for fridges and dishwashers that sat unused for a week. How do you guys handle that kind of spike without burning out?

Our shop saw a dozen AC units fail after Memorial Day.

Honestly thought that was just bad luck until our neighborhood had the same thing happen. Used to blame it on old units or poor installs. Seeing so many go out at once after a holiday weekend really points to the sudden heat surge. That first big temp jump absolutely wrecks systems that were barely hanging on.

Tbh that heat surge theory makes a ton of sense, but honestly the sitting unused part is the real killer. Gaskets and seals in fridges can dry out and crack when they're not running normally for a few days. Then you start them back up and all that pressure finds the new weak spot. Seen it happen with dishwashers too, where the pump seals go bad from sitting dry.
