Appreciation post: That little tree service in Columbus that actually knew what they were doing

I was passing through Columbus last month and saw a crew pruning a big silver maple on a main street. They had the rigging dialed in perfect, none of that lazy tipping down branches that leaves bark tears everywhere. Watched them for 15 minutes and they used a porta-wrap on every single heavy piece. Makes me wonder why I still see so many guys in my area just letting stuff crash down. Anybody else got a random crew they've seen that actually impressed them?

Seen a crew in Cleveland doing the same thing with a massive oak. Made me realize most tree guys just don't care enough to learn proper rigging. That crew clearly had a plan for every single piece before they cut.

Got a buddy who watched a crew drop a monster limb on a homeowner's gazebo. They just let it swing and it crushed the whole thing, tore right through the roof. Owner was standing there with his mouth open, no joke. My buddy said the foreman just shrugged and said "gravity happens." It's like they didn't even think about tying it off or using a block. That crew in Cleveland sounds like they actually took the time to set up a proper lowering system... makes all the difference in the world.
