Hit my 100th tree removal last Wednesday and it made me stop and think

I've been doing tree work in central Ohio for about 6 years now, mostly removals and some pruning. Last Wednesday I pulled down this old silver maple on a property off Morse Road, and my crew boss told me it was my 100th takedown. I didn't even realize I had kept count, but seeing that number made me remember my first removal where I nearly dropped a limb on a shed. Has anyone else hit a milestone like that and felt surprised by it?

That line about "not keeping count" hit me because I had the same thing happen when I finished my 200th oil change back when I was a mechanic. I was just wiping grease off my hands and my coworker mentioned it, and I realized I had no clue I was even close to that number. It's funny how those little milestones sneak up on you when you're just focused on the work.

and it's honestly one of my favorite things about life, how the stuff that really matters just kind of creeps up on you like that. like, we get so caught up in the daily grind, just doing the thing, that we miss the big picture moments until someone else points them out. i feel like that's how most real achievements happen, not with a big planned ceremony but just with a "hey, you know you just did x, right?" it's like when you're driving home and suddenly you're in your driveway and don't remember the last ten minutes of the drive, only with way more oil stains lol. but it also makes me wonder how many other cool milestones we're all just quietly walking past every day without noticing.
