Just read that a mature oak can drop like 10,000 acorns in a good year
Found it in this old forestry guide from the 70s my boss keeps in the truck. No wonder cleanup under those big ones feels endless. Anyone else come across a random fact that made a job suddenly make way more sense?

Yeah, that "10,000 acorns" thing explains the ankle-deep mess. Honestly, the best move is to rake them into piles right after the first big drop, before they get buried in leaves. Trying to do it all in one go in late fall is a nightmare.

But what do you do with the piles? I tried bagging them once and the bags just split open from the weight. Now I rake them onto a tarp and drag it to the woods, but that feels like I'm just moving the squirrel problem to a different spot.
