The stump grinder that taught me to listen to the wood

Last week in Portland I was grinding a big maple stump, kept hitting this one spot that sounded hollow, so I backed off and found a huge ant colony had eaten through the middle. I always figured a stump was a stump, but now I check the sound before I grind every time, anyone else ever dealt with that?
