Tried a gas powered pole saw for a big oak trim job last week

I usually go with my manual pole saw for smaller stuff, but this oak had some branches 40 feet up. I borrowed a Stihl gas pole saw from a buddy and it cut through those 6 inch limbs like butter in half the time. The weight was a bit much after an hour though, my arms were cooked. Has anyone else found gas models worth the trade off for reach jobs?

Start with the saw on the ground and get a good two hand grip before you lift it up. That weight really does add up, especially when you're working overhead. For 40 foot oak limbs, it's totally worth the trade off just don't try to do the whole tree in one go. Take breaks every 15-20 minutes and stretch your arms out, trust me on that.

Same here, those breaks make all the difference.
