Tried the notchless felling cut on a leaner, thought it was a gimmick

Honestly, I've been dropping trees for about 12 years and always stuck with the traditional open face notch. Last month in Asheville, I had a white oak leaning hard over a shed and the homeowner wanted it kept off the fence line. My buddy kept pushing me to try the notchless cut, said it gives you more control on the pull side. I figured I'd finally try it, and man, the tree went exactly where I wanted, almost no barber chair risk on that leaner. Took me a bit to get used to not having that notch to look at, but the hinge seemed to hold way better than I expected. Ngl, I was dead wrong about it being a gimmick. Has anyone else switched over to this for sketchy leaners, or is it just me now? What's your go-to cut when the tree is leaning over a structure?
