Used to haul brush with a pickup and a tarp, now I use a dedicated chip truck with a hydraulic dump.

After spending half a Saturday untangling branches that shifted and ripped my tarp to shreds on a job out in Lancaster County, I bought a used 2001 Ford F-450 dump truck two years ago and it cut my cleanup time in half. Anyone else make the switch from a pickup to a dump setup and have thoughts on whether a PTO or electric hydraulic system is more reliable for daily use?

Ive had both and PTO is the way to go for daily use, electric systems burn out way faster if you're dumping heavy loads of wet brush every day. How many times you gonna be fixing a pump before you wish you just went with the PTO?

Why would you voluntarily sign up for more maintenance headaches?
