Watch out for bargain tree wraps this winter

Put those cheap fabric wraps on 12 oaks last November and just pulled them off to find bark damage and rot on 8 of them. Anyone else have wraps trap moisture instead of protecting from frost?

Read a homesteading blog that said natural burlap breathes way better than those synthetic wraps.

Yeah I tried the burlap thing one time and it worked fine for a while but then it started rotting after a few heavy rains... ended up with a mess. I think natural stuff has its place but you gotta really keep an eye on it. @jason_fisher4 you ever have any luck keeping the burlap from falling apart after a season or two?
