A park ranger in Flagstaff made me question my age guesses on potsherds

I always trusted my gut on dating Anasazi sherds by style. Then this ranger showed me a bowl fragment that was clearly a tourist copy from the 1920s, and I had called it 1100 CE in front of a whole tour group. Now I check paste and firing marks before I say anything out loud. Anyone else ever been burned by a modern replica at a site?
