Can we talk about how much Stonehenge changed between 1900 and now?
Old photos show it was a mess of fallen stones and overgrown grass in 1900, but by 1960 they'd propped up the trilithons and cleared the area, so was that restoration work helpful or did it mess with the site's true history?

Totally agree, it's wild how much they changed the place. Kinda feels like we lost the original messy vibe that made it feel ancient.

Lost the original messy vibe" totally hits for me. I mean, my own room goes through these cycles where I tidy it up and then I'm like, wait, did I just destroy the ancient archaeological record of my pizza box and sock layers? Maybe it's just me but I feel like the fallen stones at Stonehenge had that same energy as my backseat floor mats - a chaotic history you can't fully appreciate once it's cleaned. But honestly, if I were a 50-ton rock leaning at a 30 degree angle, I'd probably appreciate someone propping me up before a tourist tripped over me. Idk, seems like a lose-lose either way.
